In your hand, you are holding the first ever 100% Sagrantino wine made in Oregon. This wine grape has mysterious origins, but is considered an Italian grape. It was resurrected in Umbria by Signore Caprai in the 1970’s after decades of neglect. Sagrantino has the highest polyphenols and tannins of any wine grape in the world, making it perfectly suited for longevity. We aged our wine for 20 months in neutral French & Hungarian oak barrels and another 12 months in bottle. Our patience, is your reward.

“The 2018 Sagrantino “Sacris” from Golden Cluster is the first ever bottling of this Italian variety in the history of Oregon. It was aged in a mix of older French and Hungarian oak casks for twenty months prior to bottling, without fining or filtration. The bouquet is deep, complex
and quite expressive out of the blocks, offering up scents of dark berries, black cherries, a bit of road tar, bonfire, fresh herb tones and a touch of Bandol-like tree bark. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, robust and chewy, with a fine core of fruit, good soil signature, firm tannins
and a long, complex and tangy finish. This will need some bottle age to let its tannins soften up a bit, but it has the balance and depth to age long and gracefully and will be a fine drink in due course. 2028-2060. 91+.”
